Quiz Two and Final Exam details:
Quiz 2:
Summarizing/paraphrasing
Using citations
Parallel structure
Cause/effect signal words
Final:
Thesis statements
General knowledge about Cause/Effect and Compare/Contrast essays.
Write an argumentative essay based on a topic provided during the exam. (Note: You do NOT need to prepare a topic or outline in advance.)
Please bring your journals with 10 completed entries with you to the final. FAQ:Q: Do I need to write 10 entries in a new journal?A: No. Most of you did write in your journals, as I asked and asked and asked you all to do. Some of you insisted on handing in random scraps of paper, which I asked and asked and asked you -not- to do. IF you handed something in before the midterm, it will count toward your total. Up to you to remember -- I'm not going to count every entry that I have received. I've given you guys many topics and also encouraged you to write about things/ideas/subjects that interest you. One entry should be no less than a couple paragraphs. Don't write junk -- I do not have the time to read junk.
Q: What the heck is a "cause effect connector?"A: Again, please visit the Wikithing and read everything there. Read Chapters 6 and 9 as well.
Q: Do we have more homework before the quiz/final?A: No. If you would like to write a short argumentative essay, I will be happy to review it and return it to you before the final. I will include it among your assignment scores.
Q: Do we really need to write proper in-text citations in our essay?A: Yes. You will be given a full MLA Citation, and must make the appropriate (Parenthetical) citation in your essay.
